Q: I have been encoding into flash, but I seam to be getting bigger files as well as less quality with FLASH than with the orginal WMV 9 files.
I have uploaded a few in the httpdocs/movies folder.
There will be three files (uploading now). One is 57meg WMV format, this is the orginal file that we encode to flash.
The one that starts with FLV 128, is the same file encoded at 128bitrate and note it is is 115 meg! Some of these other files are balooning up to 400-500 meg when coverted from a 100meg WMV file.
Any thoghts or assistance you could give me?
WMV files are still uploading.
I downloaded AVS and purchased. The file sizes are smaller, around 175 meg, but still WMV was 59meg and looks better!
A: Not sure how we can help
Areyou talking about our supplied encoders?
If so which one
What settings bitrate
Of original and resulting flv
And what result to you want after encoding
Regards file size
We cannot comment on avs converter as we have never used it
Bottom line is you may need to try various encoders to get the results you want
There is no standard for every converter
Also please note wmv is an already compressed file to therefore needs decoded before encoding to flv
So it's going to be better to have avi or uncompressed original versus wmv
You can try other compressors such as mp4
